Background
On its journey to become the most intelligent shopping and leisure destination in the world, Bluewater Shopping Centre extended the control and monitoring to the external car parks.
Located in Stone, Kent, Bluewater is amongst the UK’s largest shopping centres with over 330 shops within 155,700m2 floor space and over 13,000 parking spaces. About a third of these are outside.
Challenge
The lanterns were already installed and only a few years old, so a retrofit solution was preferred. The lights would need to be controlled for day and night, but also for opening hours and number of visitors. Furthermore, any issues with the lights need to be swiftly reported for prompt maintenance.
Solution
As the lanterns were already equipped with DALI LED drivers, the retrofit was easy to roll-out. The excellent range of the Mymesh system means that all lanterns could easily be included in the existing wireless mesh network. The on/off and dimming cycles can be controlled by the client via the Cloud dashboard.
Benefits
With variable visitor numbers over the last year, the flexibility brings a significant potential for energy savings. The status monitoring links directly to the maintenance company to create work tickets, making the process swift and efficient.
